Public notice is hereby given that Early Voting in Williamson County, Illinois will be conducted on the following dates and locations prior to the February 5, 2008, General Primary Election.

WHAT IS EARLY VOTING?
Early voting was new in 2006. It allows voters to vote at locations specified by the County Clerk between the 22nd and 5th day before each election. Early voters must be registered voters with a valid picture ID showing their current voter registration address. No excuse or reason is necessary. Early voters will cast their votes on optical scan ballots and they will be counted at the central ballot counting location after the polls close on election day.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN EARLY VOTING AND ABSENTEE VOTING?
Absentee Voting Early Voting
Eligibility Only voters who qualify and state a reason for voting by absentee. These include absent from the County on Election Day, attending college out of town, physically incapacitated, etc. All registered voters who possess a valid photo ID showing their current voter registration
Give a reason? Yes. Must state a reason on absentee ballot application. No excuses needed. Just show up at an Early Voting site.

By Mail: 40 days
